With quick and easy techniques, you can crochet rose variations in a flower’s size, shape, and even color. Crochet flower crowns are a great way to finish a project that needs a little extra something. They make the perfect embellishment when added to crochet loveys, snugglers, amigurumi, headbands, blankets, sweaters, and more. The versatility of this DIY crochet rose crown is unlimited. I like to use my crochet rose as an accessory to add femininity to my faux fur animal snugglers. I’ve designed my mini-rose for making small rosettes with leaves.

Crocheting a rose is an easy, quick, and absolutely fun project. It is a great stash buster, as you can create several different colors and sizes to use up those left over yarn scraps. By simply using different sizes of crochet hooks, you can make smaller more petite roses or use a larger hook with chunky yarn to create a bolder rose.
What yarn do I use to make a crochet rose flower?
Use smaller-weight yarns to achieve a dainty crochet flower and DK weight or worsted weight yarn to create a medium size flower. If you are looking to achieve a puffy look, using DK weight or medium/worsted weight yarn can also be effective. We have listed some of our favorite yarns for each yarn weight category.

How many roses to you want in your crochet rosette crown?
You may choose how many roses you want to do in your crown rosette:
-3 rose crown: make 1 light pink rose, 2 dark pink roses, and 2 leaves (see crochet pattern below).
-2 rose crown: make 1 light pink rose, 1 dark pink rose, and one leaf (see crochet pattern below).
-1 rose crown: make 1 dark pink rose, and 1 leaf (see crochet pattern below).
How to make a smaller light pink crochet rose
Using one strand of a light pink #4 worsted weight yarn and 3.5 mm hook:
Row 1: Ch 20, in 2nd ch from hook *sc, ch 2, sk 1 ch, then sc in next ch, repeat from* to end of row. (7)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *hdc, dc 5, hdc, into first ch-sp, then repeat in next 4 ch-sps*, *hdc, dc 4, hdc in next 3 ch-sps*, *hdc, dc 3, hdc in last 2 ch-sps*.
Tie off leaving long tail to sew rose together.
Sewing rose together:
Wrap the rose in a spiral shape starting in the middle of the rose and working to the edge, using long tail to secure into shape.
How to make a larger dark pink crochet rose
Using one strand of a darker pink #4 worsted weight yarn and 4.5 mm hook:
Row 1: Ch 20, in 2nd ch from hook *sc, ch 2, sk 1 ch, then sc in next ch, repeat from* to end of row. (7)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *hdc, dc 5, hdc, into first ch-sp, then repeat in next 4 ch-sps*, *hdc, dc 4, hdc in next 3 ch-sps*, *hdc, dc 3, hdc in last 2 ch-sps*.

How to make a crochet leaf
Using one strand of a light green/sage color #4 worsted weight yarn and 3.5 mm hook:
Rnd 1: Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch and flipping to bottom of ch, sc again, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch, sl st to join.
Tie off leaving long tail to sew onto roses.
Sewing roses and leaf together:
Sew the two roses together working back and forth from one rose to another. Once the two roses are secure, attach the leaf in the back.
Sew onto head in desired location.
