How to crochet a mini stocking for beginners
TOE
Using color A and 5mm crochet hook:
*Note* For whole pattern, sl st into first dc of each round.
*Note* Ch 2 will be at the beginning of the first cluster on alternative rounds.
Rnd 1: Make a magic circle, ch 2, dc 15 into ring, sl st to join. (15 sts/5 clusters)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc-cluster between the 3rd and 4th st around, sl st to join. (5 clusters)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc-cluster in first sp, dc-inc-cluster in next sp, dc-cluster in next sp, dc-inc-cluster in next sp, dc-cluster in last sp, sl st to join. (7 clusters)
*Note* some of the clusters for this round will fall between the cluster increases in round 3.
Rnds 4-8: Ch 2, dc-cluster in each sp around, sl st to join, (5 rnds). (7 clusters)
Do NOT tie off, continue to heel.
HEEL
Using color A and 5mm crochet hook:
At this point you are going to begin the heel part of stocking, so you will work a couple of rows of decreases, then 2 rows of increases (see pic 1).
*Note* For the heel, you will work into the SPACES and STITCHES.
Row 9: Ch 2, dc-cluster in first 4 sps. (4 clusters)
Row 10: Ch 2, TURN, dc in first st, dc-cluster in next 3 sps, dc in last st. (3 clusters)
Row 11: Ch 2, TURN, dc in first st, dc-cluster in next 2 sps, dc in last st. (2 clusters)
Now you are going to begin the increase rows!
Row 12: Ch 2, TURN, dc-cluster in first st, dc-cluster in next sp, dc-cluster in last st. (3 clusters)
Row 13: Ch 2, TURN, dc-cluster in first st, dc-cluster in next 2 sps, dc-cluster in last st. (4 clusters)
The heel part is now done, and you are going to crochet up the sides (see pic 1).
Fold the top half of the heel back, (see pic 2), then Ch 1, turn, working into both layers, sc 4 up the side. Tie off, and then working down the other side (see pic 3), sc 4, working into both layers, TURN, flip up the rows which are folded down, and begin Rnd 14 (see pic 4).
FINISHING BODY OF STOCKING
Using color A and 5mm crochet hook:
Rnd 14: Ch 2, dc-cluster in next 3 sps across top of heel (see pic on previous page), then dc3tog where the heel and stocking connect (see pic), dc-cluster in next 3 sps, then dc3tog where heel and stocking connect once again, sl st to join. (8 clusters)
Rnd 15-23: Ch 2, dc-cluster in each sp around, sl st to join (9 rnds). (8 clusters)
Cut yarn, and continue to Cuff.
CUFF
Using color B and 5mm crochet hook:
Rnds 24-26: Ch 2, dc-cluster in each sp around, sl st to join (3 rnds). (8 clusters)
