How to Crochet a Flat Circle- FREE Pattern & Video Tutorial
Have you ever wondered how to crochet a circle for beginners? Are you looking for a tutorial on how to crochet a circle step by step? Many crochet patterns start by crocheting a magic circle, so understanding how to crochet a FLAT circle with the single crochet (sc), half-double crochet (hdc), and double crochet (dc) stitches can help you improve your crochet skills. Creating these little circles make great embellishments for almost any crochet project, including: hats, toys, rugs, baskets, earrings, coasters, and one of my favorites: dots on my Sea Turtle Crochet Pattern.
I’ve included a YouTube video showing each of the free patterns below to create a perfect circle.

What yarn weight should I use to crochet a flat circle?
Any yarn weight and hook combination will work, it is best if you use the corresponding crochet hook size as stated on the yarn package. If you desire a smaller sized circle, consider using a smaller yarn weight and smaller sized hook; if you want a larger circle, use a larger yarn weight and larger sized hook. It’s important to choose the right yarn and hook size so your final project turns out the size you envision it.
