Why crochet a amigurumi mallard duck?
Crocheting a green-headed Mallard duck can be a fun, creative, and rewarding project for several reasons! Here are some ideas for why you might want to crochet one:
- Beautiful Mallard Duck Nursery decor: A soft, huggable Mallard duck can be an excellent gift for young children or as a fun decorative piece for a nursery.
- Hunting lovers: For those who love hunting or have fond memories of birdwatching, a crocheted Mallard could be a lovely reminder of nature’s beauty. It’s a charming way to preserve those moments in an artistic form.
- Duck lovers: You can make the Mallard duck look as realistic or as whimsical as you like! You can play with different yarn textures and colors for the wings, or add fun features like a little scarf or hat to give it character.
- Duck Amigurumi: If you’re into amigurumi, crocheting a Mallard duck is a great project to challenge yourself with. It’s not as simple as crocheting a flat item or a basic shape, but it’s also not as complicated as other large, multi-part creations.
Ultimately, crocheting a green-headed Mallard duck is a great way to combine creativity, skill-building, and personal enjoyment, while creating a unique and charming handmade piece. Whether you’re looking for a fun hobby, a thoughtful gift, or a way to relax, a crocheted duck can be a perfect project!

PATTERN NOTES:
- Finished size may differ according to tension, you may need to size down a hook size to keep stuffing from showing through the stitches.
- You can stuff the body if you prefer that look.
- this pattern uses a combination of worsted weight yarn and blanket yarn. However, if you have stuffing showing through at any point, decreasing hook size or using one strand of blanket yarn will fix this.
- If confused at any point in the pattern, please watch this tutorial here.
